The Issue

To the Wisconsin State Legislature and Senate:

Wisconsin families, small businesses, and energy consumers across the state will bear the burden if Senate Bill 28 (SB 28) and Assembly Bill 25 (AB 25) become law. These bills would give monopoly utility companies exclusive rights to build and control new energy transmission lines—shutting out independent developers who could lower costs and improve service. Without competition, Wisconsinites will face even higher electricity bills, fewer choices, and an energy market that serves corporations—not the people.

What’s at stake is the future of fairness and accountability in Wisconsin’s energy system. SB 28 and AB 25 would lock in a rigged process where only the biggest utility companies get to play, while consumers pay the price. These bills were written with the help of industry lobbyists, and many of the lawmakers supporting them have received significant campaign contributions from those same energy companies. If passed, they will further entrench monopolies and block innovation, competition, and transparency in our energy infrastructure.

Now is the time to act—before this corporate power grab becomes law. Both SB 28 and AB 25 are moving quickly through the legislature, and the public must speak out. We demand that lawmakers reject these bills and stand with the people of Wisconsin—not the utility companies trying to buy influence.

Sign the petition to stop SB 28 and AB 25. Protect competition, lower energy costs, and keep our laws in the hands of the people—not big energy.
