Don't let an elevator cut a hand

Don't let an elevator cut a hand
The Issue
- Currently, the stop sensor in most elevators is small and installed in the lower part of the elevator doors.
- Unless a person extends a leg in line with the sensor, the elevator is not likely to stop from closing.
- If a person extends a hand for stopping the elevator, the elevator keeps closing, and may hurt, or even cut, the hand.
- This is very dangerous and quite common.
- This danger can be reduced by having a full-length stop sensor that can sense intrusion from any part of the elevator doors.
- This petition is for:
- Government agencies to mandate elevator manufactures to install full-length stop sensors.
- Elevator associations to guide elevator manufactures.
- Elevator manufactures to install full-length stop sensors in elevators.
