Don't Deny Prenatal Care to Low-Income Women
The Issue
Gov. Dave Heineman (R-NE), who supposedly has a "pro-life administration," is threatening to veto a bill that would continue Nebraska's long-standing policy of providing prenatal care to those in need.
He feels it's better to sacrifice babies to immigration politics than provide state-funded prenatal care to low-income undocumented mothers.
Lack of prenatal care leads to a slew of problems when a baby is born -- so this will make the start of life a struggle against death and illness. Furthermore, taxpayers will have to pay more to fix this than it would have cost to prevent these health issues in the first place.
The legislation has been supported by health professionals, pro-life groups, and religious organizations alike, but Heineman is threatening a veto.
Tell Gov. Heineman to stop sacrificing newborns' health and take a real pro-life stance by supporting the provision of prenatal care to women in need, and promising that when the bill passes the legislature, he will sign it into law.
