Hello! My name is Marquis Jefferson. I have lived in Dolton, Il for nearly my entire life. I can be honest to say that I have had a troublesome young adult life but it truly made me realize my potential and what I can offer to my community. I believe that it starts with our children to make our community better. I want to not only create summer jobs and activities for the youth but also teach them the responsibilities of spending and making money, taxes, and credit. I envision having summer camps that not only help with athleticism and physical health but also teach them excellent etiquette to properly socialize in life. I also want to have after school programs and sports teams, tournaments, and recreational options all year round. I believe that giving these children a safe place to go to be positive and make lifelong memories and friends is what our community needs. I want to give them better safer places to hangout so that it minimizes the chances of them getting in trouble like jail or worst killed. We are losing too many children in Dolton before they make it to 21. We need them for our future so we need to make sure they make it there safely and effectively. I just want them to have better then what I had. I want them to have better options to choose from then robbing, fighting, and killing.
