Like each and every one of you,  I am exhausted by witnessing the devastating effects of constant conflict and division, and I have come to realize the urgent need for unity. From time immemorial, men have been at war with each other, but never before in history has our capacity to destroy our planet been so great. The advent of technology and social media has exacerbated this issue. Our 'always-on' culture is taking a toll on every mind, fueling hate and division.

However, it's not all doom and gloom. We've also seen how technology can be a transformative source of connection, forgiveness, and even joy. It's high time we leverage this potential for unity rather than division.

We can start with something most of us love- our Dogs! They are our best friends after all,  and could you imagine if they knew how we are treating each other?  I bet they would be sad but unlike us they would still love us unconditionally. What would it look like if we took our pain and instantly donated to a cause greater than us. We are all going through a lot right now. My partner and I lost both our beloved dogs Henry and Dino within the last 18 months. Those of you who know how painful it is to say goodbye, get it. Maybe that’s what we can all agree on. Dogs deserve better. We all deserve better and we ARE better than this. Peace is always possible.

According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals report 2020, peace, justice and strong institutions are fundamental prerequisites for sustainable development (UN SDG Report 2020). Yet we are far from achieving these goals due to increasing polarization in societies worldwide.

This petition calls upon each of us- artists, athletes, musicians, corporations, policymakers and each one of us to transform opposing forces into a call for unity. Let's harness the power of technology as an instrument of peace rather than discord; let's turn our differences into strengths that unite us rather than divide us.
