Dog Park in Grand Crossing

The Issue

The residents of Grand Crossing, particularly dog owners, are directly impacted by the lack of a designated dog park in the area. Dog owners in our community currently have no safe and accessible place to let their pets exercise and socialize. Without a dog park, people are left to walk their dogs in busy streets or on sidewalks, which can be unsafe for both dogs and pedestrians. Additionally, the absence of such a public space means that many dog owners miss out on opportunities to connect with their neighbors and form lasting social bonds.

If the situation remains unchanged, Grand Crossing will continue to miss out on the significant benefits a dog park would provide. Without this vital community space, dog owners may be forced to travel to other neighborhoods, wasting time and resources, while those without dogs may feel disconnected from pet owners. A dog park would be an inclusive space for everyone, fostering unity and enhancing quality of life. Failing to act now will prevent our neighborhood from having a much-needed amenity that encourages both physical activity for pets and positive interaction among neighbors.

Now is the time to act because the demographic of Grand Crossing is changing, and with it comes a growing need for more inclusive spaces that cater to a diverse group of people. A dog park is a straightforward and essential addition to our neighborhood that can bring people together and build a stronger community. We’ve reached out to Alderman Michelle Harris with no response, and it's clear that our voices must be amplified. By signing this petition and sharing it with others, we can take immediate action to create the positive change our neighborhood deserves.
