I do not support a transport plan that removes 826 car parks?
The issue
Business owners will face severe if not fatal effects from the proposed transport plan that asks for 826 car parks to be removed from 4km of Devon St West, 4km of St Aubyn St and another 1km added to the existing Mangorei Road, road works. Work on Devon St East is next in the pipeline.
At present the general feeling is that there are not enough car parks in these areas already, and we want to retain what's there to stay viable as businesses. Roads will become very narrow and busy and with the frustration of not being able to find car parks, travel will become even more unsafe.
This plan is being rushed through, and the public consultation has been poor to date, we need every business owner and supporter to sign this petition, give feedback on the council website below, and turn up at 8.45am to Council Chambers on the 27th of September to the Extraordinary Meeting. Numbers are the only way we can evoke change, up till now the council isn't listening to any of our suggestions. This petition could initiate a referendum.
Find more info at www.npdc.govt.nz/yourway You can also send any writing direct to council through traffic@npdc.govt.nz.
As well as the petition, direct contact with Councillors is the best way to be heard. Their contact details are available on the NPDC website. https://www.npdc.govt.nz/council/about-the-council/council-people/mayor-and-councillors/
