A recent court decision in British Columbia has ruled that Aboriginal rights are senior to private property rights.
This means that you could lose the title your home, if it’s ruled to be on Aboriginal land. 

It doesn’t matter if you bought the house in good faith.

It doesn’t matter how hard you worked to scrape together a down payment and how much you have been paying for your mortgage and property taxes.

You could still be out on the street, without any compensation.

I am a lawyer and this is my legal opinion.

This should never happen in a free and democratic country.

We need to urge our federal and provincial governments to hold a referendum on enshrining private property rights in the constitution.
