After the recent tragedy at Oxford High School, some Divine Child students believe the excess money and a portion of the funds raised today on our annual DC Day of Giving(11/30/21) should be donated to Oxford families who are grieving the loss of their children or paying for hospital bills. With Oxford being a school in Metro Detroit, we need to help those in our community who have experienced this loss. As catholics, we understand it is our sacred duty to comfort the sorrowful and help those in need as Jesus would, not just with our prayers, but with our Faith in Action.

While we understand the importance of this money to the Divine Child Community, we recognize the severity of this tragedy and the heartache of those who are experiencing this. We, the students of Divine Child, want to help and comfort those mourning. While we understand that money cannot and will not resolve this issue, we hope that it can ease some of the stress of these families and help them to understand we see them and are mourning with them.
