Over the years, there has been an increasing influx of commercial traffic Wheeler Rd.  This disrupts the peace, safety, and quality of life for us and our families. Large trucks and high volumes of cars thunder through our  streets, posing safety risks to our children and elderly, while contributing to noise pollution and road damage. This happens at all hours of the day and night.

This isn't merely an inconvenience—it's a matter of safety and community well-being. According to studies, neighborhoods affected by high commercial traffic experience higher rates of accidents and deteriorated infrastructure. For example, the Federal Highway Administration has found that roads exposed to heavy truck traffic can require more frequent repairs, leading to costly maintenance funded by local taxes.

We acknowledge the importance of commercial activities for our local economy, but there needs to be a sustainable balance that protects residential areas from becoming thoroughfares for commercial vehicles. We propose the following:

Designating alternative routes for commercial traffic that bypass our residential streets and do not affect local businesses.

A) CommeriIal traffic traveling north should be diverted onto Kings Hwy to Raoul Wallenberger Dr to Route 347 bypassing the residential neighborhood area along Wheeler Rd.

B) Commercial traffic diverted to the N LIE Service RD to Simeon Woods Rd (which becomes Raoul Wallenberger Dr.) to Route 347 bypassing the residential neighborhood area along Wheeler Rd.

Solutions like these have been successfully implemented in other towns and cities, proving that we can achieve a harmonious balance between community safety and commercial efficiency.
