Ditch The Dye: Advocating Against Artificial Food Coloring in Commercial Products

The Issue

For decades, artificial food dyes—derived from petroleum and linked to serious health risks—have been hidden in our everyday foods. From hyperactivity in children to potential carcinogenic effects, the dangers of synthetic color additives like Red 40, Yellow 5, and more can no longer be ignored. Yet, these chemicals remain pervasive in products marketed to families, especially children.

The Problem:
Despite mounting scientific evidence, regulatory agencies like the FDA continue to permit these unnecessary additives, while other countries, such as those in the EU, enforce stricter warnings or bans. Major food corporations have misled consumers with false "clean label" claims, and loopholes in labeling laws leave many unaware of what they’re truly consuming.

We demand:

Transparent Labeling – Clear disclosure of all artificial dyes on packaging, with prominent warnings for products containing them.

FDA Reevaluation – Immediate review of synthetic dyes’ safety, following the lead of the EU and independent studies linking them to health risks.

Corporate Accountability – An end to deceptive marketing and a firm commitment from food manufacturers to replace synthetic dyes with safe, natural alternatives.

Why This Matters:

  • Children’s Health: Studies, including the landmark Southampton Study, prove synthetic dyes worsen hyperactivity and behavioral issues.
  • Consumer Rights: People deserve honesty about what’s in their food—without corporate loopholes hiding harmful ingredients.
  • Global Precedent: The EU’s stricter regulations show change is possible. The U.S. must catch up.

Our Call to Action:
Join us in urging lawmakers, the FDA, and food corporations to #DitchTheDye. By signing this petition, you’re standing for:
✔ Healthier Kids – Removing additives tied to ADHD and allergies.
✔ Honest Food – No more misleading labels or hidden chemicals.
✔ A Natural Future – Supporting sustainable, plant-based colorings already used by pioneering brands.
