Time for county officials to pursue a criminal investigation at The Animal Foundation.
The Issue
Last year in October two of my dogs were stolen from my house. But to my surprise one of my puppies were found and taken to the Animal Foundation shelter. But when I went to go claim him, where he was being held with all the lost dogs, I was completely distraught by what I saw. Considering that this is where these dogs sleep and eat, they were sleeping next to their feces, saw multiple cages infested with roaches, dogs sleeping with dirty shirts or just plain shivering. I had also registered my dogs in the lost and found with specific details on his description. My dog had been there for a week and not once was I contacted. They told me I was lucky because he was just about be "moved". They're contracted by Clark County for more than $4 million a year to handle the animals in our communities and claim to get over $50,000 in donations and consistently have large amounts of volunteers so then exactly where does this all go to. If they have so many volunteers and employees then there should be no reason for dirty, roach infested cages. If they have so much money in donations and grants from the state, why exactly are these dogs sleeping with tattered shirts and going medically untreated. Its not right at all. Unfortunately mine isn't the only or worst complaint thus far. Multiple owners have reported bringing home dogs just to have them die of parvo and just recently an injured 3 month old pittbull puppy was left in their care unattended, who eventually caught gangrene. Luckily this puppy was taken off their hands and given the correct treatment it needed, but exactly what will it take to finally put a stop to this. We need action done now. Something needs to be done about upper management and an investigation needs to be opened immediately.
