It has been brought to many students attention that Wednesdays are being a mandatory attendance day for students. The decision was made without any regards to the students or asking us if we were ok with the idea. We are asking to have it revoked. It completely throws off everyone’s schedules for E-learning & makes it complicated in too many ways. These days were helpful & useful to students that needed to retake a test or chat with a teacher about a failing grade or even go over a lesson again. I think I can speak for nearly all York high school students when I say we are stressed and tired. The new functionality of e-learning and having back to back zoom calls, nearly 4 every single day is mentally draining. We don’t feel like we’re necessarily learning anything, more so just trying to get assignments done before 11:59 PM. Our workload is also an issue, we are being assigned a heavier amount assignments then usual and we feel our teachers have no regard to the fact that just because we are at home does not mean we have more time to complete said assignments. Some students would like to refer to Wednesday as a break day or a day to catch up on work and if it is set as a mandatory attendance day, that takes away our one day during the week to just breathe and work through our assignments thoroughly. Please revert Wednesdays back to how they normally were.
