Colorado Springs D20 Needs a District Wide Aquatic Center

Colorado Springs D20 Needs a District Wide Aquatic Center
The Issue
School District 20 currently has two (2) swim pools, one at Liberty High School and the second at Rampart High School. There are six (6) high schools with five (5) of the said schools offering separate boys and girls swimming and diving programs as a team sport and there is a proposal to build a seventh (7th) high school. High School swimming and diving, competitive youth swimming cannot ensure future growth due to lack of facilities currently accommodating these sport's needs. The lack of facilities and facility mandated time restraints for these student/athletes is a detriment to their education, personal growth and scholarship dollars offered due to the extreme lack of training time currently available in the present facilities. We need a district wide aquatic center that will accommodate all the high schools without a swim pool and to accommodate all competitive youth swimmers within the district and the north end of Colorado Springs.
