The Issue

Tired of endless rules and unjust fines? Frustrated with the constant stream of threatening letters? Fed up with your hard-earned money being funneled into a property management company that charges over $15,000 for something as basic as postage and paper? You're not alone.

We, the homeowners of the Valley Lakes Community Association in Round Lake, Illinois, find ourselves beleaguered by an association that no longer represents our best interests. It's time for a change - a drastic change that benefits the residents who make this community unique.

The Valley Lakes Community Association, originally established with the noble intent of maintaining communal harmony and property value, has transformed into an entity that prioritizes revenue over residents. The exorbitant fees and the intimidating nature of communications from the board have become more than a nuisance — they're a burden. Our community deserves better.

Dissolving the Valley Lakes Community Association will empower homeowners, allowing us to take back the financial and social reins of our neighborhood. Without the overreaching governance of an external board and management company, we will have the freedom to create a more cost-effective system of self-governance that directly reflects our values and concerns.

Contrary to what might be believed, self-governance is not only feasible but also more efficient. We propose forming a resident-led cooperative that focuses on fostering community spirit without the red tape and excessive fees. Such a cooperative would ensure transparency, equitable distribution of responsibilities, and the establishment of a reserve fund for essential services that truly matter to us, like security and communal area maintenance.

It's time to rally together and voice our collective dissatisfaction with the current system. By dissolving the Valley Lakes Community Association, we make way for a new era of cooperative living, transparency, and financial prudence. We owe it to ourselves and our community to think about the long-term well-being of our neighborhood.

Lend your voice to this cause by signing the petition to dissolve the Valley Lakes Community Association in Round Lake, Illinois. Together, we can usher in a new chapter that celebrates freedom, financial efficiency, and true community engagement.
