Living in our wonderful neighborhood, we've experienced firsthand the strong sense of community and collaboration that exists among residents. Over time, however, it has become increasingly clear that our Homeowners Association (HOA) is not living up to its intended role of enhancing and managing community life.

The HOA, initially established to maintain shared spaces and regulate community standards, has often been a source of frustration for many of us. We've encountered unjust fines, slow action on important issues, and decisions that do not reflect the needs or desires of our community. These challenges have led us to believe that dissolving the HOA would allow us to take charge and care for our neighborhood in a better, more effective manner.

For example, several community-driven projects have already shown the power of our collective efforts.  We have neighbors who have added and maintained fish in the small pond at our entrance help control mosquitoes and  to transform an overgrown communal area into a beautiful  space that everyone can enjoy. This was accomplished with voluntary contributions and collaboration, without the bureaucratic red tape often associated with the HOA. We have no community areas to enjoy, no parks for our children or pools to maintain.

Moreover, financial transparency has been a recurring issue with the HOA. In the past year, there have been discrepancies in financial reports and unclear explanations of where our fees are being allocated. This lack of accountability raises concerns about efficient use of funds and further diminishes trust in the HOA’s ability to manage resources.

Dissolving the HOA is a realistic and attainable goal. According to legal precedents, if a substantial number of residents agree to terminate the contract under which the HOA was incorporated, it can indeed be dissolved. This change would allow us to reinvest HOA fees directly into community projects, led by residents who have a vested interest in seeing our neighborhood thrive.

We understand that this is a significant change and it may not be without challenges. However, standing together, we can create a participatory and transparent governance model that reflects the values and aspirations of our community.
