The Issue

Petition To:

Election Commission of India

We, the undersigned citizens of India, respectfully submit this petition to the Election Commission of India to take immediate action against Prasanna Kumar Reddy, a senior leader of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and former Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Prasanna Kumar Reddy Comments on Vemireddy PrashantiReddy (Video)

On a public platform, in full media glare,  Prasanna Kumar Reddy made deeply misogynistic, vulgar, and abusive remarks targeting Hon’ble MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy. His language was not just indecent — it was hateful, sexist, and intended to demean a woman legislator solely on the basis of her gender.

These comments were made in the presence of other political leaders, some of whom were seen applauding or laughing, which makes the matter even more disturbing.

This is not an isolated incident. Prasanna Kumar Reddy has a history of publicly disrespecting women, including:

[Previous Incident #1 –NallapuReddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy Comments before elections on Vemireddy PrasanthiReddy

[Previous Incident #2 – NallapuReddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy Comments on Vangalapudi Anita 3 years back]

These repeated outbursts reflect a pattern of gender-based hate, not mere provocation or political criticism.

Such behavior constitutes:

A serious violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

A threat to the dignity and safety of women in politics.

A clear instance of hate speech under the Indian Penal Code.

A violation of the principles of free and fair elections as laid down under the Representation of the People Act.

 Our Key Demands:

Disqualify Prasanna Kumar Reddy from contesting future elections, under the powers vested in the Election Commission to uphold electoral ethics and public morality.

Refer the incident to appropriate legal authorities to initiate action under relevant IPC sections

Issue a public condemnation and reminder to all political parties that hate speech and personal abuse, especially against women, will not be tolerated in our democratic system.

 Why This Petition Matters:

Misogyny is not “political banter” — it is hate speech.

It discourages women from participating in public life.

It normalizes a toxic political culture of abuse and impunity.

It violates the spirit of gender equality enshrined in the Constitution of India.

We Appeal to the Election Commission:

As the custodian of free, fair, and ethical elections, the Election Commission of India must send a strong message: those who demean women, who indulge in vulgar public speech, and who threaten the democratic fabric of this country — must face consequences.

We urge you to act swiftly, independently, and firmly. The integrity of our politics, and the safety and dignity of women in leadership, depends on it.

 What We Stand For:

We stand for dignity in democracy, for respectful public discourse, and for a society where no woman is demeaned for being in politics.

Your signature is your voice. Help us protect the integrity of our public institutions and the dignity of women in leadership.
