Disqualify Atty. Christian "Ian" Sia from the May 2025 Pasig City Congressional Race

The Issue

I am a solo parent and a mother, deeply impacted and humiliated by the actions of a certain congressional candidate - Atty. Christian "Ian" Sia. His unmistakable and unjustifiable disregard for the welfare and dignity of solo parents, particularly mothers, has led us to this plea for action.

Atty. Sia, who is currently running for congressional seat in the upcoming May 2025 Pasig City elections, has shown a lack of respect and sensitivity toward solo parents. A sad indicator of this attitude comes from an alarming statistic: the Philippines already has more than 14 million solo parents, whose emotional and financial struggles are incredibly challenging (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2019).

His disrespectful attitude is simply unbecoming of a public servant. Public officials should be model citizens, upholding respect and justice for all sectors of society, including - and especially - for solo parents. We assert that it is wholly incompatible for an individual who undermines the dignity and struggles of a significant section of our community to run for a congressional position.

Thousands of solo parents and appreciative citizens are aligned with this cause and demand immediate action. We urge the electoral commission to reconsider Atty. Christian "Ian" Sia's candidacy and disqualify him from running in the May 2025 Pasig City Congressional elections.

We cannot allow someone who does not recognize the value and strength of our solo parents to be in a position to make decisions on our behalf. Let's ensure a respectful, considerate candidate represents our community.
