In a new show on Disney called "Jessie" a young girl baby-sits a group of small children in her New York apartment. In one of the episodes of this new show, the children (including the baby-sitter) route for a small dog to be a eaten by a bird simply because they don't like the owner. At the end of the show the youngest girl says something along the lines of, "That's too bad." when informed that the dog had not been harmed too badly.

With the high rate of animal abuse is it ever okay to joke about harming an animal or wanting to be harmed? Is this the kind of thing we want to promote among children? I don't think so.
