Disney: Stop the changing and representation of iconic Disney princesses

Disney: Stop the changing and representation of iconic Disney princesses
The Issue
Okay so, as you may know, Disney has changed the designs of the first 10 Disney Princesses. Recently, an image was released of a Merida design. This has been met with resistance. Merida was not meant to be a "pretty" or "sexy" character but a free character who did not care for her hair and exemplified love of adventure, passion, and bravery. All of these new images are a joke. They take away from the originality of each. On princess.disney.com, all of the princesses aside from Merida are shown with their new design, this needs to go. The original designs are special and each one shows the uniqueness of each character, including factors like clear ethnicity.
Here's the petition that's fighting against the Merida drawings: http://www.change.org/petitions/disney-say-no-to-the-merida-makeover-keep-our-hero-brave
Please take the time to just sign this. Disney is a big part of many of our lives. With these stereotypical images that focus on "beauty", they have a negative influence on the characters we've come to love and possibly even little girls. Thanks.
For a long time, Disney has been a source of inspiration for many. Adults and children can enjoy their movies. Their stories reveal themes of finding true love, being true to yourself, and standing up for what you believe in. Recently, an image of the newest Disney princess, Merida, was found of her in a 2D form, all glitzy and girly. A petition was started to keep this image out of Disney. (Sign here: http://www.change.org/petitions/disney-say-no-to-the-merida-makeover-keep-our-hero-brave) Apparently, the complaints weren't exactly heard as the image will still be on a "limited-run" of products. http://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Family/Modern-Parenthood/2013/0516/Disney-misses-the-point-in-response-to-Merida-petition. While this debate continues on, I am calling on you now to help me change Disney. If you go to http://princess.disney.com/, you'll find that all the princesses are shown and their icons are of the newer drawings. Whoever came up with these drawings had a terrible idea. The change was unnecessary. We don't need "prettier" stereotypical cartoon characters, but our originals. Each character was designed in a special way, with features to match their ethnicity and own unique self. These new images are skinner and shinier and all have the same facial image. I want Disney to stay Disney and stay true to all of its originality. These images distract from the key attributes of the characters: kindness, bravery, curiosity, smarts, and draws attention to their "beauty" and skinny-ness, this needs to stop! "Beauty" should not be what young girls, especially, should be chasing after. Disney, I am asking you to get rid of these images permanently and bring back the originals. They were created uniquely for a purpose, not to be changed to all look the same in a stereotypical manner. They were not meant to be fashion models but good examples of women who stayed true to themselves. Stop marketing these new drawings and bring back good old original, influential Disney.
