I, along with a great number of Walt Disney World aficionados, have been visiting this world-class resort since the 1980s. In the early 2000s up until the mid 2010s, Walt Disney World—specifically The Magic Kingdom Park—had a few remote-controlled talking trash cans. These wastebaskets would move around guests and speak—thus interacting with the guests. 

I have autism, and Disney has always taken care of guests with disabilities. I really got a kick out of the “Talking Trash Can” at Animal Kingdom in January 2001. It literally snuck up and surprised my father and said a few jokes to him!! Even to this day, I always ask my father to emulate what the trash can said!! I’ve seen videos on YouTube of not only talking trash cans, but a palm tree named “Wes Palm!” All these robots talked in the same quirky voice.  Many other Guests of the theme parks dearly miss PUSH—The Talking Trash Can as well as Wes Palm. 

Walt Disney World will be celebrating 50 years of magic beginning in October. I really feel Disney Parks and Experiences needs to bring back these quirky robots as part of reminiscing. Many guests have been disappointed they are not around.  Memories have been made; in fact I watched a video of a man proposing to his girlfriend with PUSH—The Talking Trash Can as a witness!! It was hilarious, and the girl gleefully accepted. It is memories such as this that truly make Walt Disney World “The Most Magical Place On Earth!”
