Release "Adventures of the Gummi Bears" Volume 2 on DVD

"Adventures of the Gummi Bears" (1985-1991) was the very first animated show from Walt Disney Television Animation and a forerunner for the once popular Disney Afternoon television block. Loosely based on the gummy bears candies, the series was an instant success fueling the creation of other popular Disney animated cartoons, comic books, toys, lunchboxes as well as a host of other memorabilia, and has left a permanent mark on American culture.

It lasted six seasons, a feat that for an animated television show is very rare, even today. It has been translated into multiple languages and shown in countries all over the World, including but not limited to, Bulgaria, Germany, Czech Republic, Taiwan, India, Hungary, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

After years of being out of print from a few VHS releases, Disney released "Adventures of the Gummi Bears" along with several other Disney Afternoon series on DVD. Without fan-fair the sets depended on word of mouth. Adventures of the Gummi Bears received one volume with one final volume to go, before the series was dropped due to 'Lack of Interest'.

We, as a collective body of fans, urge Walt Disney Home Entertainment to finally release the end of this treasured classic onto DVD. Let us enjoy the final 48 episodes, whether through the more preferred method of a standard retail DVD, as was the first volume, or simply via the DVD-on-Demand program. We feel the excuses for denying fans access to the end of this show must come to an end.

If Walt Disney Home Entertainment properly markets and advertises this final volume and does not have overly high list prices (two problems that plagued the first release) we know it will sell better than the previous volume. There is a strong fan base for this show and we are ready to demonstrate with our pocket books how beloved it still is, if we are given the opportunity. Thank you.
