Millions of children around the world take their social cues from how Disney characters are presented. On May 11, Disney's strong female character, Merida, will be officially added to the "Princess" lineup and with that comes an image overhaul that is in opposition to her character's basic values. She did not care about fancy dresses or looking alluring! This change sends the wrong message to our children about women's values, ideal body type, and roles in society. We encourage Disney to keep Merida BRAVE and leave her just as she was!
