My brother, Che Bosch, (who is white) was a victim of police brutality at the hands of Woodstock Police Officer Eric Dopf. Che was defenseless, on his knees with his hands cuffed behind his back and not resisting in any way when he was assaulted by Police Officer Eric Dopf while on duty. With video evidence!!! Tragically, Che passed away 24 days later! This incident is not isolated; there is another instance where Officer Eric Dopf assaulted a man while on duty and settled the case out of court.

This officer was also a named defendant in this case

This is the link to the result of the court case earlier this month. It is an absolute outrage that Officer Dopf got a slap on the wrist for beating my brother!!! These Officers need stiffer sentences!

I have started a Petition to have him removed as an officer!
Officer Eric Dopf's actions are unacceptable of a police officer and do not represent the highest standard of policing that citizens of Woodstock, Ontario deserve or any city for that matter. His continued service with the Woodstock Police Department undermines public trust in our law enforcement.
In Canada, every individual has the right to life, liberty and security (Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms). When those who are meant to protect us become perpetrators themselves, it destroys our faith in these.
We are asking the Woodstock Police Services Board to dismiss Officer Eric Dopf from his position at Woodstock Police Department due to his history of misconduct. We believe this action will help restore some measure of justice for victims like my brother Che Bosch and reinforce public confidence in our police force.
Since this Woodstock Police Officer Eric Dopf also committed another assault while on-duty. Although he was not charged in that assault, surprisingly he was sued by the person he assaulted and they won the case against Officer Eric Dopf. Police Officers like this should not be able to keep their job. He obviously has a short fuse and quick temper.
Please sign this petition if you believe that no one should be above the law - especially those entrusted with upholding it.

This case is not necessarily about Che personally. It is however about police in general assaulting defenceless people and being able to keep their jobs in your city and town and not being held accountable and you may not even know about it.
This could happen to you, your son, brother, father, cousin, grandson or female version of anyone you care about for that matter. The more I look into these types of cases of abuse and violence by police the more I see in this country! It should not be tolerated by any of us. Yes, Che did pass away 24 days later from “what is claimed to be unrelated causes”. He was not driving the vehicle the police were in pursuit of and he got out when he was able to.
Officer Eric Dopf was aware of Che’s ability health and knew he was a vulnerable person and took no consideration to that either. Che had neuropathy in his legs and was an insulin dependent diabetic which is genetic and had been in discussions with his doctor about having his legs removed due to the pain.
This is an unacceptable act of aggression from a Police officer that should not be tolerated by the public. Thank you for your support.
