The Issue

As a fan of women's basketball, I am deeply disturbed by the recent incident involving journalist Gregg Doyel of the IndyStar. During Caitlin Clark's introductory press conference with the Indiana Fever, Mr. Doyel made comments that were not only unprofessional but also disrespectful and creepy. This incident is a stark reminder of the sexism female athletes often face from male journalists.

According to a study conducted by The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport, only 4% of sports media content is dedicated to women's sports (Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport, 2015). This lack of representation often leads to inappropriate coverage like what happened with Caitlin Clark.

It is high time we hold journalists accountable for their actions and demand respect towards female athletes. We cannot allow this kind of behavior to continue unchecked. We call upon the management at IndyStar to dismiss Gregg Doyel immediately as a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equal treatment and respect for all athletes regardless of gender.
