Keep the Zandercraft Bot Online and Change Discord's Verification Process

The Issue

Discord has recently added a "Bot Developer Verification" process to its platform through a 3rd-party called Stripe. The verification process requires that the developers of bot's over 100 users must verify themselves by sending a picture of the front of a valid form of government-issued ID to Stripe. This process is not only dangerous, but can pose some serious implications if Stripe has a data breach. As most internet enthusiasts know, even the best of companies will have a data breach (or multiple) at some point in their life as a company. The difference with Stripe is that they are not only storing emails, usernames, and passwords, they are also storing your ID. In the case of a data breach your ID can be stolen, thus leading to the possibility of identity theft or it being sold on the black market. In many countries, it is illegal to give such forms of ID as a health card or passport (some of the ones they accept) to anyone other than a trusted source like an airport or health clinic. By verifying your identity with Stripe, you are giving it to a source that has no official need for it which in turn breaks the legally binding contract that you signed with your government when applying for that form of ID. Additionally, if your identity is stolen, the second your government finds out that the reason was that you gave it to Stripe and they suffered a data breach, you are on your own in protecting your identity, as it was your fault for giving it out on the internet. The worst part about this verification system that Discord has setup, is that if your bot is not verified by this October, it will not be allowed to grow anymore and must shrink to below 100 users before being allowed to be invited to more servers. The Discord Team is basically holding your bot hostage and not allowing you any option other than to break a legally binding contract that was created for your own safety and the safety of your government, not to mention that you could potentially be fined for recklessness with a piece of government-issued ID. Please join me in requesting that Discord change this requirement, or add other ways to verify your identity.
