We demand a change.

This isn’t just a “people hate change” thing. This is just a bad and insensitive design. As multiple people have already pointed out, the new “blurple” is just blue. This massively affects people who have color sensitivity. The old purple was a soft color, which was soothing. Whereas this blue is so bright and in your face that it causes eyestrain to people who are sensitive.

Another point I need to bring up is the font. This just is unappealing to look at. The old font was perfect: it was easy to read, and nice to look at. The new one looks like you typed “top 10 modern fonts” and went with number 1. And don’t even get me started on the logo. The text is a MASSIVE downgrade, it doesn’t even come close to bringing the same amount of uniqueness and charm the old one had. And the icon itself is suffering from the “oversimplified logo” syndrome. This new logo looks like an early concept art for the first iteration of discord, not a 2021 update. It just looks so... bland and plain. Part of the thing that made the old one so great was how unique it was. This just looks like you used the generic line connector tool in photoshop and went with that.

And you can’t even make the argument that “no one would have noticed if it wasn’t announced”. People noticed the instant this new update launched, and were immediately agitated.

Please. We can all do this if we just try.
