As an avid viewer and supporter of the Arizona Diamondbacks, I am deeply perturbed by the negativity emanating from the play-by-play narration of our games, courtesy of Steve Berthiaume. His continuous negative commentary on our players is not only demotivating but it significantly detracts from the enjoyment of the game. Furthermore, his incessant repetition often pushes us to the point where muting the game becomes a more desirable option.

The role of an announcer carries a critical responsibility: to build the community's spirit and spread enthusiasm about the game. Unfortunately, with Steve in this role, the exact opposite is being achieved. Instead of inspiring positive conversations about the Diamondbacks, a culture of ruthless criticism is being fostered. This tone is deleterious not only to the fans but to the players as well.

We need an announcer who respects our players, embodies sportsmanship, and ensures that the games are a fun and positive experience for everyone involved. So I am calling on the Arizona Diamondbacks management to discontinue Steve Berthiaume's role as an announcer. He may be just one man, but his words have a powerful impact on the collective psyche of both the players and the viewers. Let's work towards a more enjoyable viewing experience, where every member of the Diamondbacks is valued.
