Living within Philadelphia, one can hardly go anywhere in the city without the dread of being unfairly ticketed by the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA). Sadly, I am personally familiar with this heart-sinking feeling. I have been at the receiving end of multiple unwarranted tickets, paid off diligently but with great frustration. Yet, after making these payments, I still receive letters insisting that I owe more, threatening to immobilize and tow my car. Without the old receipts, it's a disproportionately unfair game of their word against mine.

PPA's operations are not just intrusive, but it has tainted the city with corruption for years. Citizens are paying the price for unjust practices where fair dispute of tickets seems impossible. Adding insult to injury, the invasiveness has transcended the realm of our roads and parking garages; it's now creeping into our neighborhoods, violating our privacy.

The PPA's reign has been more terroristic than regulatory and it's time we put a stop to this exploitation. Let's band together as Philadelphia citizens to demand accountability, transparency, and fairness from our city bodies.
