''DISABILITY IS NOT AN OBSTACLE FOR SUCCESS''

Although children with disabilities are an extremely heterogeneous group of diverse learners, each with unique learning strengths and needs, many of the graduate counselor education programs have not provided prospective school counselors with adequate training for the development and provision of services or how to professionally interact with children who have disabilities, which includes physical behavioral, emotional and mental disabilities.Children with disabilities are often misunderstood and frequently less served by the counseling profession, these children need services just as much as other children.
The rights of persons with disabilities have been the subject of much attention in the San Carlos City and other local organizations over a long period of time and the importance of the students with disabilities are educated with their peers without disabilities, they learn age-appropriate social skills by imitating students without disabilities in the environments
where they are needed. Integrated settings provide a challenging environment for students with disabilities. Therefore, these students learn
to be more independent and acquire developmentally advanced skills. Also, they may develop friendships and a more positive selfimage by having the opportunity to do what other students do.
