Seeking maximum justice for two dogs starved, 1 made it out
The Issue
On August 15th, Savannah Brooks went to drop her son off at his father's house and see her dogs. Woody, who was a loveable boy pit mix who had been there for her during a loss, licked the tears off her of face, and calmed her panic attacks, was laying lifeless in a corner. She saw Hiates, his beautiful pit mix as nothing but skin and bones, but thankfully she was still alive. Animal control seized Hiates and confirmed later Woody had been poisoned or died of infection. These animals had been starved by the person they thought was supposed to love and care for them. He hadn't checked on them at all in 3 DAYS! In a place where August days can be 110 degrees or more for several hours. They had no food, no water, no love. Woody had been dead already for 2 DAYS! Savannah felt horrible, shattered that this happened to her innocent babies. She'd been busy with work, a toddler and school. They had agreed she would take care of their son primarily, and he would take care of the dogs. They agreed once she got a fence or her own place she would come back for Woody, then he changed his mind and didn't want to separate the two. Now we know why. He has not shown any remorse in starving the dogs, or ultimately being the cause of Woody's death. Hiates was finally released from animal services to Savannah after almost 2 weeks in the shelter. She is trying to ensure he cannot adopt in the area by adding his name to do not adopt lists. She is raising money for vet bills for Hiates and a fence for her to be safe in with a GoFundMe account that can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/justice-for-woody-and-hiates?pc=fm_co_campmgmt_m&rcid=r01-156709191992-c620086a86bb4cd7&fbclid=IwAR3FEhc-iS6qB6LGuKFeGkJBjTqHe2ZqtFZQjcdQviZ4sCLRUuZFlczavT4
But she needs YOUR help.
Justice needs to be served in the fullest to ensure he does not ever do this to another animal. Animal Cruelty can be considered as a felony in the State of Texas. Please sign our petition to get the maximum penalty allowed and #justiceforWoodyandHiates
We ask that the prosecutors and Director of Animal Services in Midland take their role seriously in bringing animal abusers in the community to justice.
We ask that Trace Livesay of Midland, Tx receive the highest penalty allowed for Animal cruelty in Texas under Texas Penal code Section 42.092 and "Loco's Law" which makes this offense a felony and punishable by a $10,000 fine and up to two years in jail.
