It has come to our attention that the school has notified the community that there will be an Expert Review Group visiting Gingin District High School, from Friday the 5th August for three school days, looking at the schools strengths and weaknesses and developing recommendations. This has been a community effort and has not been achieved by the petition alone. Pressure on the Department has led to a positive outcome we would like to mention that the Expert Review Group is interviewing parents on Monday at 3pm in the PAC at GDHS. It is absolutely necessary that anyone wishing to speak with the group take the opportunity while they are here. We are all seeking the same positive changes that are needed within the school. Petition and all documentation was hand delivered to the Department of Education on Friday the 5th August. As per cover letter to Sharyn Oneill "The petition went live on Saturday 11 June 2016 and has 275 supporters to date. One hundred and thirty supporters are from the Gingin District High School intake area, as described in the Strategic Plan 2016 – 2018. The remaining 139 supporters include concerned extended family members and community stakeholders. As of July 2016 there are 368 students enrolled in Gingin District High School from Kindergarten to Year 10. Based on the Australian statistic of there being 2.3 children per family, we estimate there are 160 families within the school. This indicates that the petition has been signed by over 75 per cent of GDHS families. Families of Gingin District High School are concerned about the issues identified in the petition." We are happy to provide a copy of the cover letter to anyone who requests to see it. Thank you for your support.
