"Parents concerned about school" page 5 in the Sun City News today 30/6/2016 " The petition was created not from a lack of trying with the school or taking other avenues but the opposite we have done everything the state regional office advised us to do and all we see is a school that is very aware of its many issues but lacks proactive initiative to take action to do what best for the kids. All 11 points stated are based on genuine community concern and the many comments reinforce and highlight the many underlying issues that cannot be fixed by band aid solutions and smokescreens. The deep emotional scars and financial pressures that this school has burdened many families with can no longer be ignored or tolerated. There has been an alarming number of children exiting the school in the past fortnight which sadly reflects the damage that the school has had on many families. Unfortunately it won't stop there until we see some intervention from the Department of Education. There are currently 2 options that the school can be reviewed. The IPS is part of the Independent school process and while it identifies any issues the Leadership is not obliged to make any changes. This petition is pushing for an Expert Review Group to address our community concerns about the school and also prevents the school from becoming an Independent school under the wrong leadership. Under the ERG review the school will scrutinized and obliged to make necessary changes. The petition was presented at the previous school council meeting (without the names). We are yet to see how seriously the school council and leadership regard the petition. This is why we are pushing for the allocation of new leadership. We need to fix our school and do what's best for the kids. Due to the increased community concern we will be collecting signatures for another few weeks before delivering it to the Education Department.
