It’s time to bring the Belichick family legacy back to Navy Football.

The Annapolis campus of the U.S. Naval Academy is not just a pretty landmark, it's where Bill Belichick, New England Patriots' head coach, learned his lifelong trade. At just 4 years old, he watched his father Steve begin a 33-year run as a football coach and scout for Navy. Steve Belichick was known not only for turning scouting into an exact science - detailed in his 1962 book 'Football Scouting Methods' - but also for offseason workouts that were notoriously more brutal than Plebe Summer.

It is this legacy that we wish to see continued at the Naval Academy by hiring Bill Belichick as Navy's head football coach. His proven track record with the Patriots speaks volumes about his ability to lead and inspire players on and off the field.

The U.S. The Naval Academy Athletic Association has an opportunity here to bring back one of their own; someone who understands what it means to be part of this institution and its rich history.

We believe that under Bill’s leadership, we can expect great things from our team while honoring the legacy of his father and all Navy and Marine Corps veterans who set foot on the gridiron.

Let us unite in urging Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro and the United States Naval Academy Athletic Association and Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk to make this happen.
