Australia is one of the most travelled destinations for Indians. Their purpose of the visit includes tourism, education, business, job opportunities, medical treatments, and many more! Indians rank in the top five arrivals by citizenship and third-largest immigrant population over the past several years in Australia.

There are scores of people travelling between Sydney - Hyderabad and Melbourne – Hyderabad daily. There is a direct route from New Delhi to these cities operated by Qantas and Air India. Qantas has recently announced direct flights between Bengaluru - Sydney, but there are no direct flights between Hyderabad – Sydney & Hyderabad - Melbourne. 

There has been tremendous growth in the Indian-born population living in Sydney and Melbourne over the past 10 years. Most of them come from the two Telugu speaking states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The number of passengers travelling between Sydney - Hyderabad and Melbourne – Hyderabad has been significantly growing year on year. The number of students from these two states who enrol in various Universities and Colleges in NSW and VIC are highest in numbers. There are many elderly parents who travel very frequently and go through lot of inconvenience during the change of flights.

A nonstop service would also aid growth in business and trade and leverage the Indian aviation market which is one of the fastest growing in the world. With Telangana state government strongly promoting tourism, having direct flights between these cities is in direct alignment with its plans.

I personally assisted multiple Film Productions, Musical concerts from South Film industry for many years and would like to highlight that having direct flights from Hyderabad to Sydney and Melbourne would be of great advantage and will boost the entertainment industry from South India. It needs no mention that Hyderabad is the core hub for many big production houses today. 

Request the Government of India, Telangana CMO, Air India and Qantas officials to consider setting up direct flights between Hyderabad and Sydney. Initially 3 days a week would be a great start. Please look at the plight of the people and provide alternative direct flights.

This petition is to convey the message to all concerned authorities to consider adding direct flights between Sydney – Hyderabad and Melbourne – Hyderabad. All we request you is to sign this petition and ensure all interested people sign the same. It could include your immediate family, relatives be it from India, Australia or anywhere else.
