Due to the recent increase of CO-VID cases in Monroe County and the apparent cancellation of High School winter sports in New York state, it seems highly unlikely that CYO Basketball in Rochester, New York will have a season starting in January as originally planned. The season will most likely be canceled. This is extremely unfortunate as myself and all of my teammates were looking forward to this upcoming 2020-2021 season ever since our last season came to a close in March. Some of the friendships and memories I have made throughout my years of playing CYO have brought me so much happiness and are priceless. I'm sure my teammates feel the same about there experiences. I would hate to see so many others not get the chance at making friendships and memories this year. CYO Basketball is an organization that gives many kids the opportunity to participate in and the equal chance to play one of the most popular team sports in the world, and it would be devastating for hundreds of kids in the Rochester area not to have that opportunity this year. Me and my teammates truly believe we can still have a CYO Basketball season in the Rochester area while being safe and following the necessary CO-VID guidelines. We have countless suggestions on how this can happen. We beg for a chance to be heard and share our thoughts on how we can have a possible season as players in this organization. A opportunity to discuss with those who have the power to organize a season is all we want. Signing this petition will be so appreciated by us and, even though a longshot, a possible chance to revive our season if the community unites and enough voices are heard to cause attention. We just want to play basketball, have fun, and make memories. We will not go down without a fight knowing a 2020-2021 season is possible with the right ideas/guidelines regarding everyone’s safety in place/mind!
