SAVE THE TUDOR ROSE...

SAVE THE TUDOR ROSE...
The Issue
The Tudor Rose is the symbol of the Tudor Rose family and is represented by the Union of the Red and White Rose. The Red Rose is traditionally thought to be the House of Lancaster and the White Rose, The House of York. This union ended the bitter war which is commonly referred to as "The War of The Roses ".
The Tudor Rose was first occupied by its present owner in 1983. When the freehold was purchased in 2007, not many people knew of the lofty prominence of its name.
Britain has a rich history of Black Tudors such as John Blanke the Trumpeter, Jacques Francis The Salvage Diver, Diego The Circumnavigator and John Anthony the Mariner of Dover amongst others who were and still are important figures in history. The history is not widely known because there is no great repository of Social or Cultural Centre that preserves Black History, and which allows for a meeting place to celebrate and learn about our rich history and Culture.
The above is said to emphasise that The Tudor Rose Venue is a unique space in London. In the annals of the Windrush Scandal, it will be a mighty shame if the Black Windrush generation would lose its only Caribbean-Owned cultural Venue that has served as a home for nurturing talents over the years.
It is very well known that Black promoters and business owners face significant discrimination in hosting events in central London Venues. If the Tudor Rose Venue was demolished, there would be no alternative and no common cultural space for the celebration of our Black Culture.
The Tudor Rose has previously hosted winners of Caribbean awards, Grammy nominees, and the Caribbean's most popular cultural names and more. The Tudor Rose has served as a space that is familiar to a generation that has no plaque or memorial in their names. The Tudor Rose is that generations` museum that holds the memory of being that generation's Cultural Center and Archive.
The loss of the Tudor Rose would be a great travesty, especially when so many people of different cultural backgrounds are very happy that The TUDOR ROSE is up and running again...please support this petition to SAVE THE TUDOR ROSE...AND LET NOT THE DEMOLITION OF THIS VENUE THAT IS STEEPED IN BAME MUSICAL CULTURAL HERITAGE BE ALLOWED TO PROCEED - WE MUST NOT BE TRAMPLED UPON
TUDOR ROSE IS A BEAUTIFUL HISTORICAL ART DECO BUILDING THAT HAS UNDERGONE EXTENSIVE REFURBISHMENT AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO REMAIN AS A REMINDER OF THE MUSICAL HISTORICAL HERITAGE FOR THE BAME DIASPORA & WIDER COMMUNITY.
