Demand for a public denunciation of white supremacy by Dianna Ploss
The Issue
The people of Swampscott are sick and tired of Dianna Ploss using space in the town to hold her "MAGA-chusetts President Trump / Back the Blue Stand Out" rallies every week as a platform to promote white supremacy and expose the residents of the town to higher risk of COVID-19 spread in the middle of a pandemic. Therefore, the residents of Swampscott are demanding that Dianna Ploss, the organizer of this weekly event and others across the state, make a public statement meeting the following demands:
- Denounce white supremacy, white supremacist groups, and violence stemming from these groups.
- Remove white supremacist symbols from her events that appear regularly which include, but are not limited to:
- The confederate battle flag
- "White Lives Matter" signs
- Denounce the QAnon conspiracy group of which rhetoric and baseless conspiracy theories from this group has been shouted over the loudspeaker at her events.
- Make a public apology to those that she berated for speaking a language other than English.
- Make a public apology to the town employees she harassed while they were working on public health efforts.
- Wear a mask and encourage all attendees to wear a mask during these events. COVID-19 has taken more lives of police officers while in the line of duty this year than any other reason combined (source: The Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc., https://www.odmp.org/search/year/2020 Given that the Swampscott Police Department honors her first amendment right to assemble and provides officers to manage people at her events, we ask that mutual respect and dignity is returned to them by wearing masks and maintaining a safe social distance.
