DHMS 8th Grade Woodwind Ensemble Students Deserve Better - More Individual Grade Songs!

The Issue

Dakota Hills Middle School’s two woodwind ensembles are playing almost all of their songs together in the spring prism concert.

The 8th graders have only one song to themselves, and the 7th graders have none. Instead, they have to play majority (or in the case of the 7th graders, all) of their songs together. Many students are unhappy with this arrangement.

As an 8th grade flute player, I believe that each group deserves more of a chance to play by themselves. We are also moving on to high school next year, so this will be our last ensemble concert in middle school. We would like a chance to show our own individual skills as a grade before we move on.

So if it is possible, please increase the number of songs each grade is playing by themselves. I know the Afterburn petition didn’t succeed, but hopefully you will consider this one.
