Grantham has no facilities to carry out DEXA (bone density) scans. Grantham residents have to travel to Boston or Lincoln to have these scans done. For those who have to use public transport it’s expensive, time consuming & stressful. Even for those who are able to drive it’s far from convenient.

In an email, Andrew Morgan, Chief Executive ULHT, has advised “We had originally included a DEXA scanning unit and breast screening in our expansion bid for the CDC at Grantham but this was not funded within the last financial year.  However there may be an opportunity for this going forward and we will be exploring the possibility.”

The CDC (Community Diagnostic Centre) in Grantham would be an ideal location for a DEXA scanner, if it can’t be housed in Grantham Hospital itself.
