The Issue

We, the undersigned students, wish to formally raise a concern regarding the handling of the Development Economics assessment materials released on 7th May 2026.

The assessment materials were scheduled to be uploaded at 4:00pm on 7th May 2026, for a submission deadline of 4:00pm on 8th May 2026, providing students with a 24-hour preparation and completion window.

However, the materials were not released until approximately two hours after the scheduled time, significantly reducing the expected access period and disrupting planned study schedules.

More concerningly, after the materials were eventually uploaded and students had already begun engaging with the assessment task, the materials were withdrawn approximately two hours later. This sudden removal resulted in confusion, interruption of work already in progress, and loss of valuable preparation time.

This disruption has had a material impact on students’ ability to manage their academic workload effectively. The time lost due to the delayed release and subsequent deletion of materials is particularly significant given that many students were concurrently preparing for other imminent examinations and assessments. The unexpected interruption has therefore not only affected progress on this specific task but also undermined broader revision and preparation schedules.

We respectfully request that the situation be reviewed, and appropriate remedial consideration be given to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by administrative delays and inconsistencies in the release and availability of assessment materials in future.
