Collingswood has an opportunity to provide housing that will empower residents. A redevelopment in the heart of Collingswood, on land that belongs to the people of Collingswood, could create equitable housing for the people of Collingswood.

We call on the borough to put out a call for proposals of non-profit, affordable, equality driven housing. Housing that provides economic justice for residents, rather than for-profit, market rate apartments. This profit would travel to development shareholders and corporations, a small handful of people, and not Colligswood citizens or voters.

Collingswood leaders may talk about equality, diversity, and justice, or they can take creative action. Town Halls uplift voices, yet structural change requires follow through. 

The people of Collingswood call to put our money where our mouth is, to support a truly diverse community in a just manner means to work for economic justice.

Public lands should be used for the benefit of the people of the Collingswood, to provide housing that remains affordable. For profit developers can buy any land they find. Here in Collingswood we have a rare opportunity to keep the power with the people.

We call for the borough to call for proposals from non-profit organizations for creative, socially just housing concepts. Let's put the money a developer might pocket back into the hands of Collingswood residents, our families and neighbors!
