Develop a New 5,000-Seated Arena for Seattle U Men's Basketball Team

Develop a New 5,000-Seated Arena for Seattle U Men's Basketball Team
The Issue
As a dedicated fan and supporter of the Seattle U Men's Basketball team, I have experienced firsthand the stark difference between the two venues that has been serving as tenant hosts. In other words, there is a problem in finding sports facility with the right amount of crowd size per game.
- On-Campus: Redhawk Center (999) feels basically too small that it underestimates the anticipation of experiencing by a certain number of fans for a men's college basketball game.
- Off-Campus: Climate Pledge Arena (18,100) often feels too empty despite only selling tickets for the lower bowl and sideline view suites (making it available for about 10,000 people), while the venue's expensive rental costs makes it very limited to use it during the season.
Our team deserves an arena that reflects their status as mid-major level athletes in NCAA Division I. A new 5,000-seated arena would strike the perfect balance - large enough to accommodate fans while maintaining an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie during games.
The construction of this new facility requires significant funding which we hope can be provided by private groups willing to invest in enhancing college basketball experience not just for our athletes but also coaches, students, alumni, family members and fans alike.
In addition to improving game day experiences for all involved parties, this project will also contribute positively towards local economy through job creation during construction phase as well as ongoing operations once completed.
We call upon all stakeholders including university administration officials, potential investors and fellow supporters to make this vision a reality by committing resources towards building a new on-campus facility that meets mid-major level standards at NCAA Division I athletics. Sign this petition if you believe in enhancing college basketball experience at Seattle U.
