Students and workers at the University of British Columbia-Okanagan are not provided with any free parking options. For students who are struggling to pay thousands of dollars in tuition per year, the additional 600$ for a parking permit is often out of the question. But for many who don’t live near a bus route, driving to campus is their only option. Additionally, workers who provide services for the students and faculty of the university are also forced to pay high rates merely to come to work each day. This state of affairs is untenable and the University must designate viable free parking options for students and workers. With enough signatories, we hope this petition can help pressure the leadership of the University of British Columbia-Okanagan to do just that.
