For decades, BATELEC has been the power company handling operations in Malvar, Batangas. In the last few years, it has seen minimal improvements in providing a reliable, uninterrupted power supply for multiple towns, and with the rise of the Work From Home setups, combined with the hot climate of the country, it has become a major inconvenience whenever unannounced power interruptions happen.

Add to the inconvenience are the occasional 12-hour power outages where said 'maintenances' happen but show no improvement at all. The sudden power outages also affect home appliance performance, resulting in some breaking down due to power surges that happen once the power comes back up after outages.

Whilst MERALCO has been able to provide updates & allow a system that makes use of isolated brownouts (for line fixes & power outages) that affects a small vicinity only, BATELEC has not been able to provide a solution for this and is still causing widespread outages when even a minimal line problem is encountered.
