Deportation Defense: Bring Binod Shah Home

Deportation Defense: Bring Binod Shah Home
The Issue
Binod Shah is being held in ICE detention center Tacoma, WA, where he is awaiting potential separation from his family, and "deportation" to Bhutan, where he could face imprisonment, torture, murder, or even expulsion therefrom.
We are asking Mike Simpson, Governer Little, and the Office of Pardons and Parole to pardon Mr. Shah, a beloved member of his Twin Falls community, who operates a respected auto-mechanic shop, and treats his vocation as his ministry to his community. He has dutifully reported to ICE check-ins whenever requested, including when he was ordered to surrender for removal a month back. He was initially scheduled for removal to Bhutan on April 12, 2025, but for unknown reasons, that removal was not carried out. He is a doting father of three, a supportive husband to a native US Citizen, and dutiful son.
Please grant an unconditional pardon of Binod Shah’s remedied conviction for aggravated battery, so that he will not be sent to the country which expelled him at the age of four as part of its systemic campaign of ethnic cleansing.
His removal to Bhutan will likely result in his imprisonment, torture, murder, or even expulsion therefrom, like the other men of Nepali ethnicity who were deported to Bhutan in March this year. Bhutan does not recognize Binod as a citizen of that country, so he is “stateless”, and his deportation would be violative of not only US Law, but of international treaties of which the US has signed, including the Geneva Convention, which which does not allow refugees to be sent back to their country of origin if they are still in any sort of danger upon arrival.
He has completed the terms of his sentence for his aggravated battery conviction, including his probation, his fines, and community service, and as such, an unconditional pardon would only ensure that he is not doubly penalized, and that he may continue serving his Idaho community.
