America’s Airspace Is Not an Open Border

For too long, Canadian wildfire smoke has crossed into the United States without permission, identification, inspection, or even the basic courtesy of declaring what it is carrying.

It arrives unannounced.

It blocks our views.

It irritates our lungs.

It turns the sky orange.

And then it refuses to leave.

President Donald Trump correctly warned:

“The United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air.”
He is right.

This is not ordinary weather. This is an unauthorized atmospheric incursion.

Every year, enormous clouds of smoke cross our northern border with no passport, no visa, and no respect for American sovereignty. Meanwhile, hardworking Americans are forced to shut their windows, cancel barbecues, stay indoors, and breathe air that smells like Canada left the entire country in the oven too long.

Enough is enough.

We demand the immediate identification, detention, and deportation of all Canadian wildfire smoke currently residing in the United States.

The smoke must be rounded up, placed into industrial-strength containment systems, and transported back across the border from which it came.

If necessary, the United States should deploy the world’s largest fans along the Canadian border and point them north.

We also support President Trump’s threat to impose new levies on Canada over its “willful negligence.” Canada cannot continue exporting smoke to the United States while expecting Americans to import maple syrup, hockey players, and apologetic celebrities without consequences.

We therefore call upon the federal government to:

1. Create a dedicated Smoke and Atmospheric Removal Enforcement agency.
   2. Require every cloud entering the United States to provide proof of origin.
   3. Install giant fans along the northern border to redirect Canadian smoke back into Canadian airspace.
   4. Establish immediate deportation proceedings for any smoke found lingering over American cities.
   5. Charge Canada a pollution tariff for every square mile of smoke that enters the United States.
   6. Construct a transparent dome over the border if Canada refuses to cooperate.
   7. Ban repeat-offender smoke clouds from reentering the country.

Critics may claim that smoke cannot understand international law.

That is exactly what Canada wants us to think.

 This petition is pro-clean air, pro-blue sky, and pro-smoke staying where it was originally produced.

Canada is free to keep its forests, its fires, and its suspiciously polite attitude.

But it must take its smoke back.
