Deport Hadi Larijani, son of Khamenei advisor Mohammed Javad Larijani from UK

The Issue

Regarding Hadi Larijani, Glasgow Caledonian University

We, undersigned members of the public, academics, students, and members of the Iranian diaspora, submit this petition to request an immediate, transparent, and independent review by UK authorities and Glasgow Caledonian University concerning Mr. Hadi Larijani.

Recent events in Iran, including the violent repression of nationwide protests and ongoing, well-documented human rights violations by the Islamic Republic of Iran, have renewed serious concerns regarding individuals in Western academic institutions who may have direct or indirect ties to the Iranian state apparatus.

Mr. Hadi Larijani is publicly reported to be the son of Mohammad Javad Larijani, a senior figure and long-time adviser within the Iranian power structure. Mr. Mohammad Javad Larijani has been associated with state institutions implicated in systemic repression and internationally condemned human rights abuses. These family and political connections, while not criminal in themselves, warrant heightened scrutiny in the current context.

Additionally, credible open-source reporting and expert analysis have raised concerns about academic and political networks linked to Iranian state interests, including institutions and individuals that have faced international sanctions related to Iran’s illicit nuclear and security activities, as well as associations with groups designated or linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a terrorist organization under UK and allied sanctions frameworks.

Given the seriousness of these concerns, we respectfully call for:

An independent institutional review of Mr. Hadi Larijani’s affiliations, funding sources, collaborations, and any documented links direct or indirect to Iranian state entities, sanctioned institutions, or IRGC-affiliated networks.
Temporary suspension of institutional privileges or roles, where appropriate, pending the outcome of such a review, in line with UK law and university governance standards.
Full transparency regarding the findings of the review, subject only to legally required protections.
Referral to relevant UK authorities, where evidence warrants, for assessment under immigration, sanctions, counter-terrorism, and proceeds-of-crime legislation.
UK universities benefit from public trust, public funding, and international prestige. They also bear a responsibility to ensure that their institutions are not used intentionally or otherwise to provide legitimacy, protection, or material benefit to individuals connected to regimes responsible for crimes against humanity.

While Iranian citizens continue to face imprisonment, torture, and death for demanding basic freedoms, it is both morally and institutionally imperative that UK academic spaces uphold the highest standards of ethical accountability.

This petition does not presume guilt. It demands due diligence, transparency, and action where warranted.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and call on UK institutions to uphold human rights, academic integrity, and the rule of law.
