Stop the construction of Mayantoc Public Market with P125M loan budget

The Issue

As the pandemic continues its exponential course, businesses are struggling to pay their employees and cover operational costs. What more for small businesses, market traders, and vendors who earn their incomes in public spaces and are struggling to make ends meet?

Amidst a global crisis, the local government administration of Mayantoc (a third class municipality in Tarlac), would like to build a new public market worth PHP 125 million. As stated in their computation, additional fees such as fixed stall, parking, roll-up doors, and other fees during the construction will be collected and paid by the vendors once built. The vendors are planning to mobilize and oppose this action as the construction of the new public market is deemed unnecessary.

For decades, the vendors have been serving the community and contributing to the local economy. Let us help and support them by signing this petition.
