Petition updateProtect Western Sydney's Kangaroos at Werrington

Something Positive

Dear Supporters,

We have been in contact with the Student Representative Council and the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee of Western Sydney University (WSU). Their representatives are aware of the Kangaroos and the vegetation under threat from, firstly, the sale of part of the land to a developer and, secondly, from the plan of a business park on the remainder of the land at Werrington.

WSU has indicated consideration toward preserving something intended to accommodate the Kangaroos but our contact (we will keep confidential the contact for the moment) has expressed dissatisfaction with what's offered. This has much further to go!

The third of the area of foraging and habitat now in possession of Lend Lease must not be excluded from sustaining the Kangaroos. Lend Lease is relying on a fauna assessment undertaken in 2014 which does not record the presence of the Kangaroos. Can you imagine that, there are fauna consultants out there giving 'green light' to development and they cannot even see 20 to 30 Kangaroos present either by direct sighting or by sighting scats?

We will keep you posted with updates. Thanks again for your support for these Kangaroos and the ecological community that sustains them.
